It took me 3 months to get a full set of obsidian armor for me, but then again I don't have that much time on my hands. If you don't want to sell anything to other people, I would recommend you ecto/shard farm. Break up the tedium doing a few dungeons in Eye of the North if you've got the expansion. There's always the chance a hidden treasure or dungeon chest will drop a gemstone.

Powertrading is also a good option, got a couple of friends that had been powertrading for a week, and raised 900k +xx ectos, with only 100k and a few items to start with.
But in general I would also say, farm the globs and obbies for yourself, for ele there are solo builds for fow and uw, and offcourse the W/Rt or W/Me UW-farm for warrior.

Now you can still do the same if you know Hero FFF.

You get more for one run of the quest alone than you do for selling the scrolls (which each take at least 3 runs to get). There are much more efficient farming methods than that... sorry.
Admittedly others might not be quite so effortless...

It wont get you a full set , But do the 'Hidden Treasures' around Nightfall on all your chars. You get around 20k + Golds which you can sell Un-Id for 1k Each. You can also get Diamonds, Rubys etc. If you have 10 chars thats around 200k.
And they reset every month or so.

Why would anyone be FFFing NOT for the double faction points?
That is 80% of the reason I do it, the other 20% being so my characters can get their PvE skills.

When there's favor do UW or FoW, when there isn't do something else from the new solo build list or open Dungeon chests.
You'll notice that the list was created a month ago and is still updated regularly. Since you don't want to spam wts you can filter out builds things like "Farming Elementalist Sword" pretty quickly so that'll slim down your options. Of the top of my head I'd say that farming Hulkings fits all your criteria and has multiple builds for W and E.
Also note that the build list is a sticky.

If i remember correctly, ectos and other rare materials were except from the loot scale nerf. Well... at least wiki says they were I wouldn't know as i rarely farm

Rare crafting materials are exempt from loot scaling. It was stated in the update the day after HM came out

Power merchanting is probably the most efficient way to get rich. However, you have to have at least mediocre knowledge of the the market system and how it works, and have to have at least some basic resources to start with. Another problem is you might end up losing money. So unless you have a good grasp of the items (what people want, how they want it, and its general price and worth), you probably want to put this off since it takes a while to learn it (relatively speaking). Another thing, if you want to learn how to power merchant, it's best if you learn from someone who has done this for a while. I guess someone COULD write a guide for power merchanting, but a lot of it comes from experience. When you farm or run, you can ask for a build and probably find someone who you can watch doing it in action. However, with power merchanting, every case is unique.
Speaking of which, someone probably should write at least a basic outline of power merchanting. Most people don't even know what it is.
